Speaking of Louisa May Alcott

Louisa May Alcott (LMA) has been a huge name in publishing since 1868 when LITTLE WOMEN came out. LMA followed with a group of other successful novels, most notably, LITTLE MEN.

In the 19th Century, Rhinos did not have much to do with humans. We knew enough to avoid them, but their culture when at home was mysterious. So when We heard of LMA’s books, We assumed that there were humans who were small, as in ‘Little’. What LMA really meant was ‘young’ people, maturing. We were glad that got cleared up, but at the same time, We were somewhat disappointed. We liked the idea of Little People scampering about.

Rhinos are large, by almost any reckoning. So We mentally catalog smaller critters, of which there are plenty. Scale is intriguing; what’s bigger or smaller or heavier or has feathers or gills. Lots to think about. Think about it for a moment, and you’ll understand Us better.
